I think that the Personal Assistant stole it. If it was embellished with precious gems I would be tempted to file a police report declaring it stolen and let the detectives do the follow up. It would actually brighten the day of some guys in the property crimes division who are usually stuck trying to retrieve clothes from bitter ex boyfriends and investigating unreturned/stolen bowling shoes from the local alley.
